***after DANCE ME TO THE END OF LOVE:
Merci beaucoup, camarades. Merci.
***before AIN'T NO CURE FOR LOVE:
Here I imagine him hanging on the cross, looking up to the heavens, saying, "Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?" ~ "My Lord, My Lord, why hast Thou forsaken me?" And then looking around him from mountain to mountain, from horizon to horizon, saying, "Consummatum est." - "It is finished." He understood that a lever had been thrown in the cosmos and nothing would ever be the same. And then he looked down from the cross, at the human beings at his feet; the faces of greet, envy, despair, extasy, happiness, indifference... and then he learnt the great lesson. The G-d learnt when he walked on earth there ain't no cure for love.
***alternate verse in AIN'T NO CURE FOR LOVE:
Oh, I tried, I tried to get away from you
But every door is locked
There ain't no cure, there ain't no cure,
There ain't no cure for love
***before WHO BY FIRE:
Voici une vieille chanson. [Here's an old song]
***after WHO BY FIRE:
Mr John Bilezikjian - the king of oud!
***after BIRD ON THE WIRE:

***after FIRST WE TAKE MANHATTAN:

***before CHELSEA HOTEL #2:
It was about a hundred years ago I used to live in this hotel in New York City. In the elevator of this hotel, I noticed night after night a young woman languishing in the core of the hotel. After some weeks, I gathered my courage and I asked her: "Are you looking for someone?" She said: "Yes, I'm looking for Kris Kristofferson." I said: "Little lady, you're in luck. I'm Kris Kristofferson." She said, "I thought he was taller." I said, "He used to be taller..." Well, a few weeks went by and a few years went by and I was sitting at a bar in a Polynesian restaurant in Miami Beach. I hope I never see you there. They serve drinks in ceramic coconut shells. This was a couple of years after she died and I started this song for her. Janis Joplin with the Chelsea Hotel.
***after CHELSEA HOTEL #2:
[heckler: "Queen Victoria"!] Say that again? [heckler: "Queen Victoria"!] Oh, yeah. I remember that. You must be old to remember that!
***after EVERYBODY KNOWS:
Oh, thank you. Thank you so much, friends.
***before JOAN OF ARC:
This next song is about Joan of Arc. I refuse to abandon Joan of Arc to Monsieur Le Pen. I refuse to abandon the word comrade to the communist party. So, comrades, here is the song, Jeanne d'Arc!
***after JOAN OF ARC:
Julie Christensen! Miss Julie Christensen! ??????????.
***after THERE IS A WAR:
Mr John Bilezikjian - the duke of oud!
***before TAKE THIS WALTZ:
Ah, thank you so much. It was a hundred years ago, when I was browsing through a bookstore when I stumbled on a book. I opened it and I read some lines: "I want to pass through the Arches of Elvira to see your thighs and begin weeping." All my life I looked for those arches. All my life I looked for those thighs. And all my life I waited for those tears. That was written by the poet Federico Garcia Lorca. It is now my great honor to render him this small hommage - Take This Waltz.
***after TAKE THIS WALTZ:
Vous êtes très gentils. Merci beaucoup. Merci beaucoup. [You're very kind. Thank you very much.]
***during I TRIED TO LEAVE YOU:
Mr Bob Metzger on electric guitar! Ms Perla Batalla! Mr Tom McMorran on the keyboards! Mr Bob Furgo on the violin! Ms Julie Christensen! Mr Steve Zirkel on the electric bass! Now listen to the drummer... Mr Steve Meador on the drums!
***before FIRST WE TAKE MANHATTAN (II):
Oh, thank you so much, friends! Here we go!
***during WHITHER THOU GOEST:
Before we leave France tomorrow morning, I want to thank you for your hospitality this evening. Not just this evening, but for all the years that you've paid attention to my songs. I appreciate it and I hope that I don't offend any ethos here if I say, "G-d bless you".
