Follow the plan to build the frame for an indoor chaise lounge. After securely attaching the base padding, use a staple gun to fasten the matching fabric or upholstery to the frame. Alternatively, fasten a base fabric to protect the padding and sew a cover to drape over the chair. This will not be an easy job as you need to accurately measure the dimensions of the completed padded chair, and cut and sew the material for proper fit. The benefit is the ability to remove the chair cover for laundering, or alternate with covers of different patterns. If this sounds too adventurous, sand and varnish the completed chair frame minus the base padding. Sew or purchase some flat cushions and attach laces to the corners of the cushions. Place the cushions on the chair and securely tie the laces to the frame. Apart from recreational use, the chaise lounge has also made some appearances in the medical profession. Patients stretch themselves out and pour out the contents of their minds and hearts as part of therapy.
Looking at the lounge chair, you will probably think that the outdoor chaise lounge is some sort of a bed if not for its hinge point and latches allowing you to adjust the sections to your level of comfort. While big and frequently heavy, chaise lounge are wide and low to the ground. Users can adjust each section so they can sit upright or lie down when sunbathing. Cushions are added for comfort and most modern lounges are equipped with cup holders. Outdoor lounges are made with durable and sturdy frames that won't easily breakdown.
Plastics like polywood and resin are relatively recent innovations and are perfect for use in patio furniture. They are durable, relatively inexpensive, and are often molded to resemble more expensive and traditional materials like wood and concrete. Though more fragile, wicker is a popular choice but is not meant to be left completely outdoors and unprotected from the elements. Keeping your wicker chaise lounge beneath a covered porch or deck will keep it away from rain and too much direct sunlight. For inside the frame, cushion supports like the strap and the sling are often employed. These are strong and usually made from a waterproof nylon or plastic. As far as innovations, the zero gravity chair is built for maximum comfort and so its user can more fully relax without putting any extra pressure onto any part of the body, especially the seat.
The frame for an outdoor chaise lounge can be made from a wide range of furniture building materials. The only condition is that it must be somewhat weather-resistant. Wood that has been treated and varnished will usually last a long time with the right amount of upkeep, as will metal. For elegance and traditional design, a wrought iron frame is beautiful but also arguably heavy. An aluminum frame does not connote the same elegance, but is much lighter and looks more modern. Both are subject to rusting after enough time.
